Special Memorabilia Card Rewards Upper Deck Employees

Monday January 14, 2008

I'm sure working for Upper Deck has its fair share of perks if you like sports cards. Here's a tangible one: employees received this cool memorabilia card (pictured here) featuring game-worn swatches from company spokesmen Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James and a photo shoot-worn swatch from rookie Kevin Durant.

"This is a creative way of rewarding our employees with something that represents what we do in the marketplace," said Upper Deck President and CEO Richard McWilliam in a company press release. "And this latest version is a testament to Upper Deck's unique advantage in the NBA market as we have the most collectible and highly valued players in the league."

It's not the first time the company has made a special card for the people who make it go. In previous years, employees got a four-swatch card with James, Sidney Crosby, Reggie Bush and Derek Jeter and a dual bat card pairing Jeter with Mickey Mantle.

In other Upper Deck news, the recently released 2007 Exquisite Rookie Signatures Baseball is already loaded with autographs, with five signed cards in every six-card, $300 pack. But even the wrappers may be worth more autographs thanks to the company's wrapper redemption program.

Continuing the "do it yourself" theme from the Mystery Dual Cuts Exchange Program, collectors who mail in their opened foil wrappers from Exquisite Rookie Signatures will be eligible for a drawing to create their own 1-of-1 multi-autograph card from a list of players that ranges from 2007 rookies like Hunter Pence to legends like Cal Ripken Jr. Seven winners will be drawn each week for six weeks for a total of 42 winners, 21 of whom will get to build dual signature cards while the other 21 build quad signature cards.

Sound intriguing? Click on the press release link below for the program's full details.
