"One and Done" Crowd Leads New Crop of NBA Rookies
With the talent players like Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley and O.J. Mayo possess, one season of NCAA basketball was enough to prepare them for the NBA. After last night, it appears that will also be enough to get basketball collectors ready for them.
The aforementioned trio went with the first three picks of the NBA Draft, leading a host of young men who jumped to the next level after a single college campaign. Not coincidentally, they're also expected to be among the most popular players to appear on 2008-09 rookie cards during the next 12 months or so.
This appears to be a deep draft that can help a lot of teams and excite collectors in many cities - and yes, there are some non-freshmen and players from overseas who are joining the party as well. Taking into consideration the projected impact of each player, the team he's joining and the collecting market he's entering, I've put together an educated guess at ten newcomers whose cards should be in high demand. Check it out at the link below and get psyched for a brand new season of basketball cards.
