"Small" Williams Coming Up Big for Panthers
Like a whole bunch of prospective NFL players, DeAngelo Williams was somewhat defined by his measurables when he entered the league. Everyone knew he had good hands and was a crafty playmaker, and that he set several NCAA records while toting the pigskin for Memphis.
Still, there was that size thing. He was too small to be a featured back in the NFL, or so the thinking went.
Fast-forward to today, shortly after Williams finished torching the Tampa Bay Bucs for 186 yards and two touchdowns, and that thinking is looking pretty foolish. He's already amassed more than 1100 yards and scored 13 times. He's a lot more than a third-down back, and he's got powerful rookie Jonathan Stewart riding shotgun to make sure he doesn't wear down.
The next breakout hobby star? It's possible, though the Panthers aren't known for cranking them out. The running back pecking order is in a state of flux right now though - just about everyone would rather have Adrian Peterson than LaDainian Tomlinson at this point - and Williams sure looks like one of the best of the next wave.

When I first read the title of your post, I thought it was going to be about sparkplug RB Smash Williams of the Dillon Panthers. I was disappointed that it was about some other Williams that I have not heard of. Nick, where can I find cards of Smash, along with his teammates Jason Street, Tim Riggins, Matt Saracen, and his friends Tyra Collette and Lyla Garrity?
