Johnson, White Lead Next Wave of Talent at Wide Receiver
They didn't do much yesterday, combining for five receptions and just 43 yards. But that only makes it even more impressive that when you look atop the NFL leaderboard for receiving yards, you won't find, say, Terrell Owens and Randy Moss, but Houston's Andre Johnson and Atlanta's Roddy White.
The Texans expected Johnson, a former No. 3 overall pick, to reach this level of production eventually. A full season of good health and a consistent running game (provided by 2008 rookie Steve Slaton) has turned out to be all the soft-spoken talent has needed to break out in a big way.
White is also a former first-round pick, but he was much less of a known quantity coming out of UAB in 2005. It took him a couple of seasons to adjust to the NFL game, but he's finishing off the best back-to-back seasons by a receiver in Falcons history - and giving rookie QB Matt Ryan a top-flight target.
Neither man is among the upper echelon of players sought after by football collectors, but a few more seasons like this one and that could easily change. To get early seats on their bandwagons, use the links below to get full lists of all of their rookie cards.
