A Holiday Tale of True Love... and Baseball Cards

The holiday season is in full swing, and hopefully some of your sports card wishes are coming true. There are plenty of good stories that arise from cards given as gifts at this time of year, but Upper Deck recently released the details on a very unique tale of busting packs and popping the question.

Mike DeRose of Chandler, Ariz. wanted to come up with a special way of proposing to girlfriend Julia Carvell, who like DeRose was an avid baseball card collector. With the help of Upper Deck, DeRose managed to get an engagement ring into a one-of-a-kind fold-out card that the company inserted into a specific box of 2008 Ultimate Collection Baseball.

The unsuspecting Carvell was three packs into the box at Showtime Sports Cards in Tempe when she discovered the pull of a lifetime. The rest, as they say, is history, which you can watch unfold by viewing the video on YouTube.
