Sneak Peek: 2007 Topps Sterling Baseball

for About.com

The 2006 debut of Topps Sterling Baseball was a pretty sweet deal for retired player collectors. Each super premium box had guaranteed autographs, relic cards (Topps' name for memorabilia cards) and even numbered base cards of one specific baseball legend.

Fans of today's top stars may have felt a little left out, but that shouldn't be the case in 2007. A number of current hobby favorites have been added to the checklist of 29 players, along with a few different legends. Every player-specific wooden box contains one autographed card or relic card numbered to 10 or less, three base cards numbered to 250 and a mystery pack that holds either a low-numbered parallel or a one-of-one patch card that features an entire letter from a jersey nameplate.

These are no ordinary autographs or jersey cards either, as you can see in the following card gallery. Look for Topps Sterling to ship in early December.
