Overview:

When it comes to pricing for sports cards, Beckett is the first name that comes to mind. The Dallas-based company first introduced the world of sports cards to its periodical price guides in 1984, and has grown to become a multifaceted media company specializing in collectibles and entertainment.

Because of its status as the gold standard for card pricing and information, Beckett is considered the most reliable source by the largest number of collectors. And while the company's magazines and publications are still around and widely used, an increasing number of hobbyists have turned to the prices found online at Beckett.com.

Flexibility is the strength of Beckett's Pricing Subscriptions (formerly known as Online Price Guides). After signing up for a free account, collectors can choose to buy the exact amount of pricing they need.

Occasional users who need the price for a single card can get it for less than a dollar, while hardcore collectors can choose Total Access to every card from every sport for $24 for one month. Subscriptions are also available in six-month and 12-month blocks, and choosing a longer duration can knock as much as 25 percent off the monthly fee. Other options allow the purchase of pricing for specific players or individual sports.

The Beckett.com front page is customizable, allowing price information to be as prominent as each user desires. It's also tied into the prominent search bar at the top of the site, making quick jumps to specific cards, sets or athletes.

As one might expect from an industry leader like Beckett Media, Pricing Subscriptions make up just a portion of the company's online offerings. Visitors to Beckett.com will also find frequently updated hobby news, the most active sports cards message boards on the internet, the Beckett Marketplace and a whole lot more.
