The Last Word

After a great start to the 2007 football card season with Playoff Prestige, Donruss Elite keeps a lot of the momentum going. It's a set that will be fun to display and collect, and old favorites like Throwback Threads and Passing the Torch are solid if not spectacular this time around.

Almost every pack is enjoyable to open thanks to the numerous inserts, but there's a small question of perceived value when buying by the box. Two rookies numbered to 500 and two memorabilia or autographed cards per box isn't bad, though it's not that much more than Prestige at a price point that could be up to 50 percent higher.

That small concern aside, Donruss Elite is another strong offering in what looks to be a good year for Donruss Playoff products.
