Box Toppers
Collectors who choose to buy Finest by the box instead of the mini-box get an added bonus in the form of a pair of one-card box topper packs. Each pack contains one numbered Finest Moments card from special insert sets devoted to two of the NFL's most exciting second-year players, Vince Young and Reggie Bush.
Regular cards are numbered to 899, with Refractors numbered to 149, X-Fractors numbered to 50 and 1-of-1 Gold Refractors also in the mix. My review box was an anomaly, with two Young packs and no Bush pack.
The Last Word
Finest Football doesn't reinvent the wheel in 2007, but the combination of design, theme and content is a good one. The mini-box concept really works here too, allowing collectors who don't want to purchase an entire box to opt in for less money while still getting a fair share of rookies, Refractors and an autograph.
It remains to be seen how the hobby reacts to the change in the rookie cards, but the scarcity of the most desirable autographs should ensure that they achieve high values even though they are parallels this year. Finest is a solid option for collectors with a budget for mid-range products and should have plenty of people busting mini-boxes.
