Playing second fiddle isn't the career goal of most wide receivers. But Reggie Wayne has discovered it isn't a bad gig if you're lining up opposite Marvin Harrison and Peyton Manning is slinging you the ball.
Wayne isn't exactly an out of nowhere success story, as he was drafted in the first round by the Indianapolis Colts in 2001. He was a starter for most of his first three seasons, but his production only offered a hint of what was still to come.
From 2004 through 2006, Wayne averaged 82 catches, 1192 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. During the Colts' run to Super Bowl XLI, Wayne set career highs in receptions and yards and earned his first Pro Bowl invitation - appropriately enough, alongside Harrison.
Like football fans in general, collectors didn't warm up to Wayne right away, preferring his draft classmates Michael Vick and LaDainian Tomlinson and flashier wideout Chad Johnson. That started to change during his career year in 2006, and his 56 rookie cards look like they have the potential to grow in the same fashion as his game.
